A translation agency follows some particular standards when it comes to the formation of its corpus of personnel and translators; the processes involved in translation, and of course, the translation itself and the review thereof. There are three main standards in translation, coming from Italy and Germany.

TRADOS and Translation Memory Devices

Technical translations by translation agencies often utilize computer assisted translations to improve the quality of work and to speed up the process of translation. Computer assisted translation or CAT are done using translation memory devices such as SDL Trados 2007. Translation memory, simply put, is a computerized database that expands its root data collection from the use of the translator. Its so-to-say knowledge is expanded by collecting translations from a translator, and later on integrating the stored data when it is used again for other tasks.


Technical Translations

Technical translation is the translation of texts from specific fields, such as medicine, education, law and literature. Technical translation is performed on several different levels by translation agencies: the translation may involve a regional language and a globalized language such as English, or a national language such as Filipino and English. A translation agency may be contacted to perform line by line translations of nearly all kinds of texts. Translation services may range from the translation of medical references and journals to the translation of websites for educational and personal use. Translation is peculiarly useful also in the academic field, where most texts are easily understood in the major languages, including French and English.
