Technical Translations

Technical translation is the translation of texts from specific fields, such as medicine, education, law and literature. Technical translation is performed on several different levels by translation agencies: the translation may involve a regional language and a globalized language such as English, or a national language such as Filipino and English. A translation agency may be contacted to perform line by line translations of nearly all kinds of texts. Translation services may range from the translation of medical references and journals to the translation of websites for educational and personal use. Translation is peculiarly useful also in the academic field, where most texts are easily understood in the major languages, including French and English.

Technical translation may be performed by a translation agency with or without the aid of computers; expert translators have mostly formally studied the process of translation and thus do not find the need to relegated texts to machine decryption. However, there are instances when computer aid makes the translation faster; this kind of translation is done when texts to be translated are in the form of websites and technical publications such as references, technical manuals and journals, where there is little room for ambiguous word meanings.

A translation agency would be more adept in handling technical translations for the following reasons: first, a translation agency would be formally organized, and their pool of translators would be coming from formal institutions who would have given them the required training and knowledge to perform not just good translations, but expert translations. Second good reason for hiring a translation agency is that a translation agency would have the necessary resources for instance, localizing a specific set of texts. Freelance translators, on the other hand, would rely only on what is readily available, unless the freelance translator has access to a lot of resources, which is in itself very rare. Third, a translation agency would be able to provide guarantees in terms of the output that they produce: since the translators are professionals, and have contracts with the translation agency, they would be producing output to the best of their ability, and the money that you would be paying would be guarded against false or poorly research translations. Another benefit from hiring a translation agency is that they would have access to the various computer assisted methods of translations, simply because they are mostly medium sized companies that have capital to access those.
